The long road…..
I left my hometown of NYC to pursue my education and dream of being a writer, and moved to Los Angeles, CA. Over the next decade, I had the opportunity to learn from, and work alongside true industry leaders and professionals. I interned at a CBS News local affiliate and then moved on to CBS Television City, learning about each aspect of television production. I started my career in print journalism at the industry trade, Variety during my senior year at USC, starting as an administrative assistant in the newsroom and working my way up to writer and columnist. During the four years that followed, I worked as assistant to legendary columnist Army Archerd before becoming a writer covering red carpet events, movie premieres, pop-culture milestones, and industry news. Eventually, I was writing for the daily and weekly publications, producing stuff like this. It was a whirlwind time of red carpets, high-profile subjects and ground-breaking business deals. I covered the Academy Awards, Emmy Awards and Golden Globes - and I landed my first book deal!
After Variety, I joined UsWeekly as a staff writer, continuing coverage of local events and award shows and wrote a regular column called Casting Calls.
The early years of content creation
As the publishing industry shifted rapidly, I segued to writing and creating website content - working at a boutique agency that built and managed celebrity websites. There, I worked on several campaigns and projects for MSN, Hanes, and the US Fund for UNICEF. Our clients included Alyssa Milano, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Tori Spelling, Alison Sweeney, and Bill Maher, to name just a few. Together, we produced exclusive content, including behind-the-scenes footage of magazine and TV shoots, promotional videos, and even an original online series. My team and I went on to produce The Long Shot for The Hallmark Channel and work on several book and branding projects for celebrities and lifestyle experts. It was exciting to be working on digital content in those early days. We felt like pioneers!
Miami vibes
In 2011 I relocated to South Florida and began my corporate journey, working in Marketing Communications, Training, Sales, and Development teams. In 2018, I transitioned to User Experience as I saw this as the missing link to the work I’d been struggling to define and develop within my org. I quickly dove in, developing new skills that benefited from my foundational ones.
I’ve had a blast these past few years creating and improving usability, readability, and a variety of digital experiences for all kinds of audiences. There’s always a new challenge, a better way to say something, and a new idea waiting to be born.
In my free time, you can find me at home with my dogs, experimenting with Pinterest recipes, watching interior design shows or volunteering with our local German Shepherd rescue group.
